Ekadashi is the day when devotes of Lord Krishna fast, some devotees fast totally and some eat fruits prasadam and prasadam which is allowed to be eaten on Ekadashi, but the Lord is served with all kinds of bhoga (food offered).

The real purpose of fasting on Ekadashi is to engage engage more in the devotional service than the regular days. Rather than concentrating on the matters related to the body we concentrate more on devotional service. We increase the chanting of mahamantra, reading of Srila Prabhupada's divine books, etc.

Srila Prabhupada instructs to break the fast on the regular breakfast time (9am to 10am) on Dwadashi day.
