Sri Gaura Purnima 2017, Edison, NJ, USA
Gaura-purnima is a Vaisnava festival that celebrating the appearance of the saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who founded Gaudiya Vaishnavism. It occurs on the Purnima (Full moon day) in the month Phalguna, usually falling in March.
Gaura Purnima means "Golden Full Moon", a reference to Lord Chaitanya. His followers spend this festival fasting and chanting congregationally, then at moon rise a feast is enjoyed by all.
This festival is celebrated by Gaudiya Vaishnavas as part of Navadvipa-mandala Parikrama.
